iPhone apps are like a garage sale, sometimes you have to wade through all the junk to find that one hidden gem. I’m always on the look-out for a good iPhone app that is going to allow me to be more productive as a Web Designer. So for the last few weeks I have been trying out apps that  could really help my fellow designers. I’ve come with a list of 5 iPhone apps that every Web Designer should have.

1. Ego

As the description on iTunes states, “Ego gives you one central – and lovely – location to check web statistics that matter to you.” This great app has support for Ember, FeedBurner, Google Analytics, Mint, Squarespace, Twitter and Vimeo. You can view the total number of visits to your website (including daily, hourly, and monthly), feed subscription totals and changes, how many people are following you on Twitter, the number of Tweets you have, and more. This app sells for $1.99 in the app store.

2. iCode

Have you ever been in the mall and you have this brilliant idea for a piece of code and you have nothing to write it down on? Well, iCode is a solution for you. This handy little app from Affex Studios is a “portable programming tool for iPhone. It has a support for 7 languages including C, C++, C#, Objective C, Java, VB.NET, HTML and ActionScript 3. You can sync it to and from a PC running Windows, preview HTML in Browser. This app sells for $0.99 in the app store.

3. WorkTimer

Every designer (freelance or not) has the hated job of keeping up with their time. If you’re like me and you don’t write it down, you will never remember how much time you have actually spent on a project. That’s where WorkTimer comes in. This app allows you to add your projects and then keep the time you work on the project with the app. All you have to do is click the play button to start the timer and click it again to stop. Even if you forget to start the timer, you can go back in and manually add your time. You can shut off WorkTimer and it will still time you. And at the end of each month, you can email yourself or anyone else a report of your hours worked on a project. This app sells for $0.99 in the app store.

4. SourceViewer

We have all at one time looked at someone’s code to see how they were able to work something out. We’re all of guilty of it so don’t deny it. This app will allow you to input a website and view HTML, CSS, and Javascript of that website. This app sells for $0.99 in the app store.

5. Web Design News

The last app is a reader app. All designers need to stay up to date with trends, new ideas, and training. This app will allow you to do this. It combines news with video, social media, images, and much more. This is a free app in the app store.
